Cyberabad: 868 Drink & Drive Cases On Dec 31 Night

The police disappointingly noted that a lot of highly educated employees of reputed organizations were drinking and driving despite campaigning by the police.
Hyderabad | 1st January 2020
Extensive and night-long drunken driving tests conducted in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits on the night of New Year eve resulted in a total of 868 cases being registered against those driving under the influence.

Despite wide publicity being given requesting the public to not resort to the dangerous activity, the police disappointingly noted that a lot of highly educated employees of reputed organizations were violating the rule.

The accused all need to attend mandatory counseling along with their family members at the Traffic Training Institute, Madhapur, and will later be sent to the courts for final disposal of the cases against them. They face a penalty of up to Rs 10,000, imprisonment and community service.

The police urged the citizens to follow traffic rules to be safe on the roads. The drive against drunk driving would continue throughout 2020 and strict action would be taken against repeat offenders, they warned.
