CPM Telangana secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram said that the state's people had defeated many dictators, and KCR would do good to revive Dharna Chowk quickly.
CPM state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram warned Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not to forget that the Telangana people had a history of waging war for the protection of democratic rights whenever the latter were violated.
Thammineni was addressing the government employees' relay deeksha being held over the last 23 days, in the name of "Save Dharna Chowk", demanding that the state government revive Dharna Chowk at Indira Park
He stated that the nature of the Telangana people was to wage their fights very seriously, and it was not possible for anybody to test their patience. He said that the state's people saw the end of many great dictators, and it would be good for KCR to revive Dharna Chowk before the people revolted against him.
As part of economical reforms in the name of globalization, the TRS government was moving in the same path as the BJP-led NDA government and resorting to attacks on democratic rights. He alleged that the democratic rights of the people had started being destroyed in Telangana immediately after KCR became the Chief Minister. There was a need for supporters of democracy and the Left parties to fight unitedly to protect the rights, he said.
