Former CPI national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today hit out at the Modi government in the Centre for its three controversial "anti-farmer" laws, claiming that the government had colluded with the Adanis and Ambanis to privatise farming in order to profit at the cost of the country's farmers.
Speaking after unfurling the CPI flag to mark its 96th foundation day at Makhdoom Bhavan with other leaders of the party, the former MP accused the BJP-led union government of passing laws that would help big industrialists "loot" the farmers, and demanded that the government meet the farmers for discussions, and repeal the three laws immediately.
"The Modi government has colluded with businessmen and corporate honchos like Adani and Ambani to privatise the farm sector at the cost of farmers' lives, just to enable the businessmen rake up bigger profits. This is not the first time that the saffron party has brought in exploitative anti-people legislations. What is more, after forcing the farmers to protest, the regime is now trying to dilute the agitations in Delhi by sending trucks filled with fake farmers to disrupt the same," he claimed.
Highlighting the plight of the agrarian community, Reddy then urged the political parties and the public of the country to come together to stand by the farmers till the Acts were repealed.
"The Left parties will unite and stage huge protests until the new laws are withdrawn. We will fight for the cause of the workers, the labourers and the poor of the country just as we always have, and will stand by the farmers till they find justice," he said.
CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy chaired the foundation day meeting, which was attended by leaders including Palla Venkat Reddy, E T Narasimha and Pasya Padma.
