The CPI today demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) live telecast the interrogation of BRS MLC K Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Party national secretary Dr K Narayana asked the CBI what problem it had live-streaming its inquiry when the highest judicial organisations of the country like the Supreme Court and several High Courts were live-streaming their day-to-day inquiries.
He also condemned the "harassment of the political rivals of the BJP through investigative agencies like the CBI and the ED".
CPI State secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said that there was a conspiracy behind Kavitha's interrogation, and demanded that the CBI conduct its investigation in an impartial manner.
Stating that the CBI was required to take permission from the State government to carry out any investigations in the State, he asked the CBI officials how they were interrogating Kavitha without obtaining permission from the State government.
He also alleged that the union government was misusing the CBI and the ED for its political interests, and that the investigations by the CBI and the ED into BRS leaders were intensified after the failure of the union government to buy the ruling party MLAs in the sensational poachgate scam.
