Telangana CPI secretary and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy today criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for adopting "double standards" on key issues and policies, including on the three contentious farm laws of the union government.

In a statement, he expressed his displeasure at the CM's "U-turn" on the issue of the ongoing famers' protests in Delhi.

"The Chief Minister first opposed the three farm laws strongly. However, after his return from his Delhi trip, where he met several national leaders of the BJP, he has reversed his stand on the matter entirely. While in Delhi, he did not even bother to visit the protest sites, or to speak to any of the agitating famers. This is evidence that his earlier protests were little more than a farce," Reddy said.

He accused the CM of being a leader who only guarded his personal interests instead of working sincerely for the people of the state.

The CPI leader also said that the CM's repeated failure to fulfil his promises of providing welfare to the people of the state was proof of his negligent and insincere ways.

KCR has been drawing flak from various quarters after his Delhi trip as it is being seen that there has been a marked change in his attitude towards the farm laws he had so strongly opposed before his trip. It has led many Opposition leaders to accuse him of being hypocritical. Others have even called his earlier protests "fake", and said that they were organised in an attempt to gain political mileage.
