The Telangana government has said that the coronavirus would remain in Telangana till December of this year.
It recommended the wearing of face masks to all the citizens to prevent the spread of the virus.
Director of Public Health Dr Srinivasa Rao said that the coronavirus cases had gone up by 66% across the country over the last week, and that the State had registered 355 cases last week and 556 cases so far this week, and that the positivity rate had gone up by 1%.
However, though the cases were going up in the State, there were no admissions of patients to hospitals or any deaths, he said.
He added that while 100% vaccination had been reached in the State, sub-variants of the virus were creating trouble now.
He however said that the people should not worry about the growing number of the cases, and that they should take all the recommended precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
He added that people who had symptoms including fever, headache and loss of smell should undergo the Covid screening tests.
He also said that the government was holding a door-to-door vaccine administration program from the third week of this month, and urged all those eligible to take the vaccine.
Commenting on the onset of the monsoons, he asked the people to keep their surroundings clean in order to prevent the spread of viral diseases.
