The CBI has been directed by the AP High Court on Wednesday to conduct a probe into alleged transgressions in the management-quota MBBS admissions at the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Jubilee Hills.
While a division bench ruled that 34 candidates were not to be allowed to pursue their MBBS at Apollo - as they did not meet the criteria, it also ordered the NTR Health University and the Medical Council of India (MCI) to nullify all permissions and affiliations to Apollo, and to take severe action against the college for the breach MCI's regulations.
The 34 students were said to have been given admissions in preference to 40 other students who allegedly scored better.
