Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today directed the officials concerned to take up on a war-footing the road connectivity in Telangana, and lay high-quality roads.
Holding a review on the budget proposals of the Roads & Buildings department at his camp office on Monday, KCR asked the officials to lay four-lane roads from districts connecting the State capital.
"Providing excellent road connectivity is the top priority of the government, and a key to quick development. The officials should prepare plans to lay four-lane roads to the State capital from all the district headquarters, and double roads connecting the mandal headquarters with the district headquarters," KCR said.
As the State capital was the centre for many international programs and workshops, there was also a need for another convention centre like HICC, KCR said.
The proposed Kalabharathi auditorium at the NTR Stadium opposite Indira Park should play this role, with a big and enticing convention centre, he said. There must be residential facilities and quarters for the Chief Minister, Speaker, Council Chairman, CS and officials, he opined.
KCR said that a six-member committee had been constituted for this purpose, and that Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma would take a final decision on procuring the land, the layout and the design for the complex.
