Congress and TRS leaders entered into a war of words today over the visit of Rahul Gandhi to Telangana.
It all started with the tweets of Industries Minister K T Rama Rao and his sister and TRS MLC K Kavitha.
Kavitha asked Gandhi why he was visiting the State. She also asked how many times the Congress had raised its voice in Parliament to protect the interests of the State, and what the Congress was doing when the TRS MPs were agitating in Parliament on the issue of paddy procurement by the union government.
She also told Gandhi that 11 States in the country were implementing welfare programs originally launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in Telangana.
She ended her tweet by stating that she was welcoming Gandhi to undertake a study on the welfare programs of the TRS government.
KTR tweeted that he was welcoming Gandhi for a study tour. He asked Gandhi to implement the welfare programs of the TRS government in all Congress-ruled States.
TPCC chief Revanth Reddy gave a strong counter to the tweets of Kavitha. He asked the two TRS leaders to reply to his questions first before posing questions to Gandhi. He asked KTR and Kavitha where they were when Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought the three "anti-farmer" laws. He also asked them what they were doing when their father wrote a letter to the union government that he would not supply parboiled rice to it, and also what they were doing when their father cultivated paddy in 150 acres in his farmhouse after asking the farmers of the State to not cultivate it.
Reddy further alleged that KCR had cheated the farmers by promising to waive off their crop loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh but not doing so, and by not fulfilling his promise to them of providing free fertilizers.
