Congress Should Declare T-Stand First: BJP
A dharna was led by TDP leader Kodela Sivaprasad Rao against alleged irregularities perpetrated by minister Kasu Krishna Reddy and his son during the ongoing union elections of local organisations.
BJP senior leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao has demanded that the Congress should be the first party to express its stand on the Telangana issue during the all-party meeting being held in New Delhi on December 28.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Vidyasagar Rao said that being the ruling party in the state and at the centre, the Congress must clarify its stand on the statehood issue, and then seek the opinion of opposition parties. He also demanded that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu attend the all-party meeting, instead of making claims that he never opposed the formation of Telangana.
Vidyasagar Rao reiterated that the BJP would support the Telangana Bill, if introduced in Parliament. However, he suspected the commitment of the Congress-led UPA government in resolving the Telangana issue. He warned that further delay in taking a favourable decision on Telangana might lead to extremism in the region. (INN)
