TRS MLA V Srinivas Goud today lashed out at the Congress for destroying community professions in Telangana, all the while pretending that it supported the backward classes.
In an interaction with the media today, Goud alleged that the Congress regime had dealt a huge blow to the Goud community by banning toddy shops when it was in power, and was now shedding crocodile tears on their condition.
The TRS leader said that the Congress had banned toddy shops in Hyderabad, and tried to do so in other districts of the state, too, during its regime, and wondered where its tears had gone then.
The TRS government had on the contrary reopened the toddy shops to ensure that the Goud community got back their livelihood, Goud said. He also said that the TRS government would supply hybrid seeds to cultivators of palm and palmyra trees for getting better quality toddy.
He claimed that the people of the state would teach the Congress a fitting lesson if it kept obstructing the development of the state.
Goud also found fault with the Centre for allotting meagre funds for the welfare of BCs. He claimed that the funds allotted by the Centre were less than what the TRS government had allotted to the weavers' community of the state. He also credited the state government for making efforts for the all-round development of the SC, ST, BC and minority communities of Telangana.
