MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy Dies Of Heart Attack
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy died of a heart attack in Kulu Manali in Himachal Pradesh today. He was 81.

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy died of a heart attack in Kulu Manali in Himachal Pradesh today. He was 81, and is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
Reddy, who went to Kulu Manali to attend a parliamentary committee meeting, suffered a massive heart attack, and was rushed to a hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
Reddy's wife and Medak MP K Prabhakar Reddy were with him.
A five-time MLA from Mahabubnagar district, Reddy served as a state minister twice during the 1980s, and had been representing Telangana in Rajya Sabha since 2014.
Reddy was born on November 19, 1936, in Nadimpally village under Anchampet mandal of Mahabubnagar district. He completed a B A course in Vivekavardhini College, Osmania University, in the city. He served as a president of the NSUI during his campus days. He was also secretary of the A P Youth Congress during the tenure of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
He then became an MLA of Andhra Pradesh during 1967-1972, 1972-78, 1978-83, 1983-85 and 1999-2004. He served as Minister of State for Rural Water Supply, Youth Services and LIDCAP in the then Bhavanam Venkatram Reddy cabinet in 1981, and as Minister of State for Handlooms and Textiles, Sericulture, Printing and Stationery in the Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy cabinet. During 2007-09, he was elected an MLC.
