Congress MLC Yadav Reddy on Friday slammed Intelligence Bureau Director Asif Ibrahim for expressing concerns over the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Talking to reporters here, Yadav Reddy said that the IB chief's remarks were shocking and could sabotage the ongoing process of Telangana formation.
He demanded that Asif Ibrahim be removed from the post immediately, for making an "irresponsible statement".
It may be mentioned that while addressing the annual conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police from across the country, at New Delhi on Thursday, Asif Ibrahim had stated that the Telangana issue threw up new challenges for security and intelligence agencies, both at the state as well as the national level.
Yadav Reddy said that the Telangana people were capable of handling the law and order situation effectively. Therefore, the officials should not go overboard in expressing their concerns.
He said that linking the naxal issue with Telangana alone is incorrect, as it is a national issue.
He also claimed that the Telangana Bill will automatically get the nod of the President of India if the State Legislative Assembly fails to take a decision over it within the stipulated time.
Therefore, he said that the Seemandhra leaders should avoid efforts to stop the Telangana Bill. (INN)
