» Congress Leaders Stopped From Touring Kadapa: Ravindra Reddy
Jagan Dominates In Kadapa: Congress
D L Ravindra Reddy said that the MLC polls had warmed up the Congress for further elections, and expressed confidence that the party would perform well.
The Congress refuses to express any regret over its defeat in the hands of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the MLC elections. The party has claimed that the MLC polls have warmed it up for the elections that will be held in the Kadapa Parliamentary constituency and for the Pulivendula Assembly seat.
Talking to media persons at the state Secretariat on Thursday, Health Minister Dr. D L Ravindra Reddy said that the defeat of the Congress candidate at the hands of the independents backed by Jaganmohan Reddy was not something that should be allowed to cause too much worry, since the party was confident that it would fare well in the next elections.
However, he admitted that the former congress MP had been calling the shots in the Kadapa district since the death of his father.
The minister stated that the Congress had started from the scratch in the district, and that securing 3 MLC seats in the LAC elections was a good beginning.
He said he did not regret losing in Kadapa as YSR's domination was being continued by his son. However, he accused Jaganmohan Reddy of monopolizing the district, and pointed out that Jagan's supporters were not allowing any Congress leaders to tour the district.
"I could not attend any developmental programs for the past 4 months in the district due to the pressure from Jagan's brigade,' said the minister.
"Even after the 2009 floods hit the Kurnool district and other areas, the then Chief Minister K Rosaiah was not allowed to tour the region to meet the affected people," he said. "Jaganmohan Reddy has no service motto," opined Dr. Ravindra Reddy. "All that he wants is the post of the Chief Minister and all he has is the desire to amass more wealth," said the minister.
Ravindra Reddy denied any links with the TDP, which had not fielded any candidate in Kadapa in the MLC elections.
