Congress Cheating Telangana: BJP
By allotting its AP MPs five additional berths in the Union Cabinet, the Congress-led UPA government has silenced its MPs on the Telangana issue, alleges the BJP.
Former union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress of cheating the people of Telangana over the statehood issue.
Talking to reporters at the state BJP Headquarters at Nampally, Vidyasagar Rao said that by allotting its AP MPs five additional berths in the Union Cabinet, the Congress-led UPA government has silenced its MPs on the Telangana issue.
He added that some Congress leaders were still making statements on the issue at the behest of the Congress High Command. He alleged that they were enacting a "scripted drama" about the Telangana issue, cheating and misleading people.
Vidyasagar Rao alleged that the Centre was not in favour of Telangana, and that this was evident from the recent expansion of the Union Cabinet. He said that the Centre was ignoring the fact that nearly 900 people had committed suicide for the cause of statehood.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader praised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy by describing him as non-corrupt. He said that unlike other Congress Chief Ministers, Kiran Kumar Reddy was "clean". However, he said, he was unable to perform his duties efficiently due to the groupism within the Congress. (INN)
