Stating that he had information about the whereabouts of the "killers" of Nalgonda Municipal chairperson Boddupalli Lakshmi's husband Boddupalli Srinivas in Ootkur village, Nalgonda Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy demanded that the state government initiate steps against Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham.
Komatireddy said that Srinivas had been getting life threats for the last four years but the state government had failed to provide protection to him though he approached Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in this regard.
Other Congress leaders backed the same theory. Alleging that Veeresham was the brain behind the murder of Srinivas, Telangana PCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy released photos of Veeresham along with the culprits, and said that Srinivas' murder was a murder by the government.
After consoling Srinivas family on Friday along with TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, Reddy alleged that the Nakrekal MLA had orchestrated the crime to weaken Komatireddy politically, and that Veeresham had the blessings of KCR to whom Srinivas' family had lamented in the past that they had a threat to their lives, but who did nothing.
It was not surprising that the police had not arrested the culprits even two days after the murder, Reddy said. He claimed that KCR routinely backed leaders of his party who had criminal backgrounds, and said that the case should be handed over to the CBI to bring out the facts.
CLP leader K Jana Reddy accused the ruling party of systematically trying to weaken the Congress party. He alleged that Srinivas had been receiving threat calls for the last four months asking him to shift his loyalties to the TRS, and demanded that the police examine Srinivas' call data to find out who was threatening him. He said that the government had Srinivas killed as the Congress leaders were exposing its scams, and that the truth would come out if the case was handed over to the CBI.
AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao said that Srinivas' murder was the best example of the negligent attitude of the TRS government to leaders of the opposition parties facing threats. He alleged that the police were not arresting the culprits due to pressure from above.
Leader Of Opposition in the Council Shabbir Ali demanded that the state government shift DSP Sudhakar.
Meanwhile, three more persons, Rambabu, Mallesh and Sharath, who were allegedly involved in Srinivas' murder surrendered in front of the Superintendent of Police (SP) Srinivasa Rao in Nalgonda on Friday.
