Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday questioned the silence of Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on the issue of the alleged misuse of the Padmalaya Studios land.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office, Ponguleti said that while in the Opposition, Harish Rao had gone to court against the handing over of 5 acres of land belonging to Padmalaya Studios to a private company for the construction of a 30-floor commercial complex. However, he had been remaining silent after coming to power.
Reddy said that the land was allotted to Padmalaya Studios for the promotion of Telugu films. However, the same was now being put to commercial use.
Demanding a thorough probe into the same, he said that the Congress would raise the issue in the Legislative Assembly.
Ponguleti also demanded a probe into the misuse of land near the Hussain Sagar surplus nala or Ashok Nagar nala, which was sold as Arvind Nagar Colony in the names of Legislative Cooperative Society and Bhagyanagar Cooperative Society.
He demanded criminal action against the encroachers of government land. (INN)
