Challenging Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao to explain the extent of development that took place in Hyderabad after the TRS came to power, former minister and Telangana Congress leader P Sabitha Indra Reddy today said that she was ready for a debate on the issue.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday along with former minister Prasada Rao and MLA T Rammohan Reddy, Sabitha Reddy wondered at the statements of the TRS leaders that there was no development of the city during the previous Congress regime. Asserting that the Congress government had taken up many developmental programs in Hyderabad, she asked the TRS leaders whether it was not a fact that the Congress regime had brought Krishna water to the city, constructed the Outer Ring Road and launched the Metro Rail project.
Sabitha Reddy also asked why the TRS government had removed the Ranga Reddy district from the Pranahitha-Chevella project. Alleging that the TRS government was trying to change the design of the project for the sake of "commissions", she asked the government why the Pranahitha-Chevella project, which came up to the Medak district, could not come to the Ranga Reddy district.
Demanding that the TRS government extend the Pranahitha-Chevella project up to the Ranga Reddy district, Reddy said that the Centre would not accord national status if the design of the Pranahitha-Chevella project was changed.
She also expressed concern that Rs 1,000 crores spent on the Pranahitha-Chevella project in the Ranga Reddy district would be wasted if the design of the project was changed.
Reddy also lashed out at the ministers and MLAs who were supposed to mount pressure on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on the Pranahitha-Chevella project, remaining tightlipped for fear of annoying the CM.
