Floor Leader of the MIM in the Telangana Assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi described yesterday's happenings as a "black day" for democratic and legislative values.
Supporting the action initiated against the Congress members for their "unruly and violent acts" in the House, Owaisi said that every member had a right to protest as enshrined in the Constitution, but that there were certain ways to protest and air grievances. Yesterday the Congress had crossed all the limits, he said.
The MIM leader charged the Congress with becoming frustrated as it was in decline and losing everywhere, and was resorting to lynching opponents now. He added that but for the presence of the marshals, even the Governor would have been lynched.
Owaisi urged the Speaker to strictly implement a rule to prevent display of placards and storming into the well of the House. When mikes were provided for expressing any protest or grievance, where was the need for placards, he asked. He added that acts of "rowdyism as witnessed yesterday" should not be tolerated.
He also wanted the Speaker to make a rule to prevent the telecasting of placards and other form of protests in the well of the House.
