Alleging that the TRS leaders ran away from discussing dalit welfare and that the TRS government had diverted the funds meant for dalits to other schemes, Congress MLA from Alampur S A Sampath Kumar asked the dalit MLAs to quit the TRS.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Kumar said that the government had relegated schemes like free double bedroom houses, three acres of land to dalits and fee reimbursement, which would have improved the lot of the dalits, to the dustbin.
"Finance Minister Etela Rajender is saying that the funds are going into the pockets of contractors without his knowing and due to this development he is not in a position to give funds to the poor. This is the finance minister of the state speaking. This kind of corruption and inefficiency is specifically hurting the dalits," he said.
Etela had also failed to come forward for the debate on dalit welfare after accepting a challenge from the Congress leaders for one, he said. He alleged that all the indifference clearly showed that the TRS government was an anti-dalit government.
