Several leaders of Telangana's ruling party, the TRS, today lashed out at TPCC chief and MP A Revanth Reddy for indulging in a "misinformation campaign" against the state government.
Leaders Guvvala Balaraju, A Jeevan Reddy, Ala Venkateshwar Reddy, and K P Vivekananda criticised Reddy for spreading falsehoods about the KCR regime and calling it corrupt.
Talking to the press, they accused the MP of being "unable to stomach" the government's new Dalit Bandhu scheme, and said, "He is a conspirator trying to foil our government's attempts at empowering the Dalit community. That is why he is coming in the way of the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu initiative. Those leaders who support the Congress chief will not succeed."
Claiming that "despite his criminal background", Reddy was trying to project a certain image of himself, the irate leaders said he was stalling the scheme by making false charges against the government and added that he would go to jail soon for his "involvement in criminal cases and financial irregularities".
"If Revanth Reddy fails to stop his false campaign, we will not allow his upcoming program at Gajwel," the TRS leaders warned.
"The Congress chief should stop making unsavoury remarks against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao or else the people will teach him a lesson. He himself is known as a thief who was caught red handed in a shameful vote buying case. Such a leader has no right to find fault with others, that too without any evidence. It is due to the struggle for statehood that Revanth Reddy has been able to become the TPCC head. Like him, BJP head Bandi Sanjay too has become powerful due to the formation of the state. Now, they are both resorting to malicious tactics to stall the Dalit Bandhu scheme. This is condemnable. They should stop all this. The leaders of the Opposition should know that our government will always work towards empowering the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities in Telangana despite their attempts to derail such efforts," they thundered.
