Alleging that the ruling TRS was misusing its power indiscriminately in the Singareni elections and even purchasing votes, former MP and Congress leader Ponnam Prabhakar urged the Singareni workers to teach a fitting lesson to the TRS and show the party that the elections were not just about Singareni but about the whole of Telangana.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday along with Nagarkurnool MP Nandi Yellaiah, Ponnam asked the people not to believe Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's promises as the latter had failed to fulfil any of the assurances given by him so far. The CM was making new assurances now to the employees of Singareni Collieries just to gain political mileage in the union elections, he said.
He threw a challenge at the Chief Minister to make a statement that he would not field TRS candidates in the 2019 elections if he failed to fulfil all the assurances made by him.
