The Hyderabad Police today convened a round table meeting on the ruckus being created by DJs in the city during festivals.
The meeting on the use of the DJs and crackers in religious rallies was chaired by Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand. It was attended by MLAs, representatives of religious organisations and police officials under the GHMC limits.
Apart from the police officers of the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh, MIM MLAs and representatives of religious organisations were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Anand said that several complaints had been received about the DJs' noise.
"DJs are increasingly being used during festivals and rallies. The DJs' sounds are getting louder, and due to these sounds, elderly people in residences are suffering. Some people are worried that their hearts will get affected. The DJ issues have become rampant not only during the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations but also during the Milad-un-Nabi celebrations," he said.
The Commissioner claimed that people were doing the same in rallies as they did in pubs, and that he had received representations from various organisations to curb the DJs' noises. "Following this, people's representatives, officials and representatives of various religious groups have been called and their views are being sought. Everyone's views will be submitted to the government in the form of a report, after which the government will take a decision on the DJs. If there is no control over DJ noise, the healths of people will suffer," he said.
