Hyderabad district Collector Natarajan Gulzar on Monday directed District Education Officers and Mandal Revenue Officers to immediately conduct inspections of all buildings in which government schools are housed and ensure that there are no leakages or inundation of water.
The Collector was speaking after a review meeting with the officials in view of the monsoon prevalent in the state and rains lashing the city. He directed the officials to submit a report on the condition of the schools as soon as possible.
Gulzar assured the officials that there is no shortage of funds for repairs of damaged school buildings. He said that funds for the construction of school buildings on government lands would be released on submission of long-term or short-term projects. The funds would be released under the Rajiv Vidya Mission (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan).
The Collector passed instructions to DEO Jagannatham to ensure that there is no shortage in the supply of notebooks or textbooks for the students of government schools.
He said that strict action would be taken against teachers if students' career prospects are harmed due to any neglect shown by them.
