Racchabanda YSR Legacy: Bhatti

Government chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka called upon people to come up with their grievances and suggestions on government welfare schemes, during the Racchabanda.
Hyderabad | 20th January 2011
Government chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday called upon people's representatives, officials and people to make the Racchabanda program a grand success.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature party office premises, Bhatti said that the program is aimed at ensuring that welfare schemes launched by the government reach genuine beneficiaries.

Bhatti Vikramarka called upon people to come up with their grievances and suggestions on government welfare schemes. He also asked people to derive the maximum benefits possible from government schemes.

The government is keen to ensure that these welfare schemes reach the people as promised in the election manifesto of the Congress party, he added.

The government whip said the government has allocated Rs. 2,500 crores for welfare schemes and released Rs. 1,200 crores so far. He reiterated that the state government is committed to the welfare of farmers and of the poor.

Reacting to the issue of a section of Congress leaders, led by former minister Damodar Reddy, opposing the Racchabanda program and threatening to boycott it, the Whip said, "It is his personal opinion. I will not interfere in it. This program is aimed at addressing people's problems. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is continuing the legacy of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and making efforts to take the administration to the doorsteps of people."

When asked about Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao's call to boycott Racchabanda in the Telangana region, demanding the introduction of a Telangana bill, Bhatti said that the Centre has already been making efforts to solve the issue of bifurcation of the state following the recommendations of the Justice Srikrishna Committee.

Reacting to questions about the state's MPs getting a raw deal in the recent Union cabinet expansion, he hoped that the MPs would get a chance to make it to the cabinet after the tabling of the General Budget in Parliament.
