Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi on Tuesday hailed the Rachabanda program, and pledged that he and his party would extend their full cooperation to the government so that it was carried out smoothly.
Chiranjeevi was speaking to media persons at the Tirupati International Airport where he arrived to participate in the Rachabanda in his constituency.
Referring to the call given by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and a section of Congress leaders to boycott the Rachabanda, Chiranjeevi criticized the move by saying that such programs were designed to benefit lakhs of people.
He said, "it is not good for parties and leaders to boycott the program as it would bring the benefits of government schemes to lakhs of people at their doorsteps". Chiranjeevi added that the Rachabanda would address long-standing problems and help in providing basic amenities to the people.
The PRP chief added, "If the government does good work, the PRP will extend its cooperation, and will also question the administration if it adopted anti-people policies".
The actor-turned-politician said that a few leaders were unnecessarily politicizing the Rachabanda and creating hurdles in the way of the government in the name of Telangana agitation.
Chiranjeevi also made it clear that his party would not join the government. However, it would extend outside support if the need arose, he asserted.
