In a revelation which can, at best, be best described as 'shocking', former Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) Mahila Wing President Narra Vijayalakshmi on Wednesday alleged that her party president K Chiranjeevi had cheated her of Rs. 2 crores.
What was more shocking about her allegation is that she claimed that the Rs. 2 crores was part of the earlier agreed upon 'deal' of Rs. 5 crores, which she was to pay to the PRP chief so that she might be given the party ticket to contest from Chevella Parliamentary Constituency during the general elections that were held in 2009.
Talking to media persons at a press conference held at Somijiguda Press Club, Vijayalakshmi alleged that Chiranjeevi had cheated her after taking the 'advance' of Rs. 2 crores and not giving her a party ticket.
Vijayalakshmi said that after the 'deal' was struck, she had given Rs. 2 crores to Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law, Allu Aravind.
The former PRP Mahila chief said that the actor-turned-politician had cheated her by giving the ticket to Katasani Jnaneswar, despite having received the money.
Vijayalakshmi said that she was forced to go before the media since Chiranjeevi's family members were dillydallying on returning her money. She further said that she had approached the PRP chief and requested him to return the money, but to no avail.
The former PRP Mahila chief said that she would go on an indefinite hunger fast at the Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund if Chiranjeevi did not return her money before February 15th.
Accusing Chiranjeevi of being a corrupt person, Vijayalakshmi said that he had merged his party with the Congress only to come to power and make more money.
She further pointed out that Chiranjeevi had launched his political party with the promise of serving the poor and the downtrodden, but had done nothing for them.
The former PRP Mahila chief had resigned from the PRP and joined the Telangana Democratic Front where she is heading the women's wing.
