TDP Urges CEC To Be Alert In Kadapa
A delegation of TDP MPs, under the leadership of Nama Nageswara Rao, has urged the CEC to check the influence of money power in the ensuing Kadapa by-elections.
A delegation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs, under the leadership of Nama Nageswara Rao, on Wednesday called on the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) at the Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi, and urged him to make efforts to check the influence of money power in the ensuing by-elections for the Kadapa Parliamentary and the Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.
Talking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to the CEC, Nageswara Rao said that the CEC has assured the delegation that he would follow up on the promise made by Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal to send a special team to monitor the flow of money during the by-election campaigns at Kadapa and Pulivendula.
Rao said that the Commissioner has also committed that CC cameras would be installed in all the voting booths to avoid rigging and malpractices during the elections.
He further added that the CEC has promised to make efforts to protect polling agents in the election booths.
In addition, he revealed that he has appealed to the Election Commission to initiate strong action against the Sakshi newspaper and the Sakshi television channel, both owned by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, for publishing and launching an anti-TDP campaign. (INN)
