Naidu begins his new Porubata, from Chittoor, and also criticizes opponents from the campaign trail.
Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday, reiterated that he would continue his fight against the state government for its "anti-farmer" policies.
In a press statement following the launch of his Rythu Porubata, which followed a pooja at the Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple in Kanipakam, Naidu slammed the government for not responding to farmers' problems despite their dire situation caused by the burden of heavy debt.
He criticized the government for its failure to take adequate steps to relieve the farmers, and for not announcing a minimum support price for their produce.
He also spoke out against the government for its failure to supply 9 hours of power to farmers as promised in the election manifesto, and he added that the government has no moral right to propose an increase in the power tariff, because it will put a heavy burden on consumers.
According to him, crops worth thousands of crores have been destroyed in 85 lakh hectares across the state, and farmers suffered a loss of Rs. 17,000 crores due to the inadequate supply of power.
Further, he added that apart from the farmers, the industrial sector suffered a loss of Rs. 32,000 crores due to the power crisis in the state.
In response to the induction of the 2 PRP MPs into the Cabinet, Naidu said that Congress leaders have been fighting for MP posts while turning a blind eye to the people's problems.
He alleged that the former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has accumulated wealth of over Rs. one lakh crores for his son and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
He also described Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana as the "Liquor Don" for his alleged nexus with the liquor syndicate.
Earlier, Naidu was given a rousing welcome at the Renigunta Airport, when he came from Hyderabad in a Spicejet flight.
Srikalahasti MLA Bojja Gopalakrishna Reddy, Nagiri MLA G Muddu Krishnama Naidu, District TDP president Mahadevanaidu, Praveen Reddy, and Kodela Hemalatha received the TDP chief and took him to Kanipakam, the temple town in the district.
On the way to Kanipakam, Naidu hoisted the party flag at the Nedragunta Cross in Pakala Mandal, and stated that the party will soon regain its past glory.
The padayatra started from Kanipakam, and passed though Akarampalli, Kothapalli, Hastinapuram, Mudigolam, Tirumalayyagaripalli and Palakuru, covering a total of 15 kilometres. (INN)
