Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday, launched the by-election campaign from Alipiri tollgate, the same place in which Naxalites attempted to assassinate him in 2003.
Naidu launched his campaign by performing a special puja, and also announced that Chadalawada Krishnamurthy would be the TDP's candidate for the Tirupati Assembly constituency.
Talking to media persons later, Naidu expressed confidence that the TDP would win from the Tirupathi Assembly segment with a huge majority.
He said that the people of the state were fed up with the misadministration of the Congress government, and that they want a change in governance.
The TDP chief slammed Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi for not taking any steps to develop the Tirupati constituency after his election.
Though Chiranjeevi made tall claims about social justice after forming the Praja Rajyam Party, he did not stand by his words, and merged his party into the Congress, Naidu said.
Stating that the Tirupati constituency was developed during the regime of the TDP, Naidu stated that the Congress has brought disrepute to the constituency due to its corrupt acts and controversial decisions on the TTD Administrative Board.
TDP leaders Bojjala Krishna Reddy and Rajasekhara Reddy accompanied Naidu in the by-election campaign. (INN)
