Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu was, on Thursday, forced to wait for nearly 2 hours at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad, as the authorities refused permission for his flight to Rajahmundry to take off due to unfavourable weather conditions in East Godavari district.
According to TDP sources, Naidu was scheduled to leave for his 3-day East Godavari tour. He was scheduled to participate in a road show at Samalkot and Pithapuram and interact with residents of Uppada on the coastal corridor issue.
When the Opposition leader reached the airport to board the flight, the officials informed him that the weather conditions in East Godavari were not favourable. Naidu was forced to wait for nearly 2 hours before the clearance for the flight to take off.
According to TDP sources, Naidu will focus his attention on local civic problems in the district during the tour.
However, importance would be given to interaction with the public, rather than addressing meetings, the sources said.
