Congress MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy on Thursday alleged that the Centre had presented the Telangana Bill in the Union cabinet and the Assembly like it was "idly and sambhar".
Speaking to media persons, Anam blamed the "muhurtam" of the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram's announcment of the formation of Telangana in 2009. He said that it was due to the impact of Chidambaram and the bad "muhurtam" that the Telangana issue was being treated by the Centre like "idly-sambhar".
He said that the Centre could have presented the Telangana Bill before the Union cabinet and the Assembly in a more dignified and organised manner, but that instead, everything was done in haste.
Anam also accused YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy of making efforts to divide the state. He said that the YSRCP's refusal to support Adala Prabhakar Reddy's candidature in the Rajya Sabha elections was proof that Jagan is damaging the cause of Samaikyandhra. He said that it was Jagan who had first led Adala to revolt against the Congress and then refused to extend his support. (INN)
