YSRCP claims that the public meeting held on Saturday proved that people want a United AP.
Buoyed by the overwhelming success of the Samaikya Shankaravam public meet, YSR Congress has demanded that the Centre review its decision of dividing the state, as "the voice of the people had a message which was loud and clear - demanding a united state".
"The demand for a united state was very vociferous, and the Centre should respect the sentiments of the people and reverse its decision to split the state. The meeting has shown the faith that the people have in Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, and the mood was clearly in support of a united state. We will continue the fight till the end," party senior leader Konathala Ramakrishna told reporters here on Sunday.
Expressing confidence that all the persons and the parties that have belief in democracy will react positively, he said,"The meeting has sent a clear message to the Centre, that people are against division."
Thanking the people who came in large numbers "from far and wide braving all odds", he said that their fight will continue till the Centre yields to the demand of dropping the idea of dividing the state.
Defending the party president's remark that they will win 30 MP seats and dictate terms to Delhi, he said, "Our leader's intention is to have a Prime Minister who will support an integrated state, and that the Telugu people have a say in the national politics."
Turning nostalgic, he said, L B Stadium has affinity with the YSR family as YSR had sworn-in at the same venue, and had signed the free power and loan waiver files in 2004, and also took oath there for the second time in 2009.
Speaking about the rains, he said that 5 days of heavy rains played havoc in coastal Andhra and other regions, causing huge damage to crops, livestock and roads, Ramakrishna demanded that the state government take up relief works on a war footing, and provide ample compensation for the loss and damage.
Crops are being affected, and roads and rivers have breached, he said.
Party Honorary president Y S Vijayamma has been on a 2-day tour of the flood affected areas, he added. (INN)
