Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar stated that the central government was ready to play the role of a mediator to resolve the differences between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Javadekar, who was in the city to participate in the campaign for N Ramchander Rao, the BJP's MLC candidate for the Graduates Constituency, told media persons on Sunday that the Centre had been doing justice to both the Telugu-speaking States.
Admitting that there were some contentious issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, he said that those issues could be sorted out through negotiations, and that the Centre was ready to mediate if the states agreed.
The Union Minister announced that he would visit Hyderabad for a day between 26th and 29th March to discuss the projects of Telangana which were pending due to lack of clearances from his ministry.
He said that the Union Ministry of Environment had hastened the clearance of several projects which had been kept pending by the previous regimes.
He said that the processes had been simplified to facilitate early clearances.
Citing an instance, he said that the power project in the Nalgonda district was cleared within just a few days.
Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy, MLA N V S S Prabhakar and MLC candidate Ramchander Rao were also present. (INN)
