Telangana Minister for Finance T Harish Rao today lambasted the union government for showing a partisan attitude towards Telangana in releasing funds.
Taking part in the debate on the budget in the Assembly, Rao said that even though the Central Finance Commission had recommended to the union government that a financial support of Rs 5,375 crore should be given to Telangana, the Modi government had ignored the recommendation, and was deliberately obstructing the release of funds to the State.
The minister claimed that the union government owed over Rs 1.25 lakh crore in all to Telangana in the form of pending funds, grants and compensation.
Responding to the statement of BJP MLA Eatala Rajender that the State government was deceiving the people, especially the backward classes, with false statistics in the budget, Rao said that Rajender was a fair person when he was associated with the BRS but he had started telling lies after joining the BJP.
Rao also refuted allegations that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was indulging in occult practices at his farmhouse to gaining supernatural powers. Rao said that there was no need for the Chief Minister to indulge in such practices, and that the BJP leaders should show proof of such practices.
