Girls outperformed boys in the CEEP, a common entrance examination for admission into polytechnic courses, for the academic year 2012-13, in the state. The girls' pass percentage was 85.28, as against that of the boys - 79.37%.
Releasing the results of CEEP at his chambers in the Secretariat, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha said that of 2,28,352 candidates who appeared for the examination, as many as 1,84,778 candidates qualified, registering a pass percentage of 80.92.
Of 1,68,622 boys who appeared for the examination, 1,33,839 qualified, while 50,939 girls cleared the examination out of 59,730 who appeared for the test.
Damodar Rajanarasimha said that web counseling for admission into polytechnic courses would begin in June, and that a notification for this process would be issued in leading newspapers by the Commissioner of Technical Education. He said that rank cards would be dispatched to qualified candidates from 22 May.
All the top 10 rankers hail from Godavari districts. Meanwhile, 3 candidates - Ganni Surya Teja (East Godavari), Gubbala Sai Chand and Sathi Rupasri Harindra Reddy (West Godavari district) - secured the first rank, with 118 marks out of 120.
K Ananth Teja of West Godavari district secured the 4th rank, followed by S Sanjay kumar, J Veera Venkata Durga Purnachand, V Raviteja, S Chaitanya Sivaram Reddy, B Jagadeesh, A Karthik, B Mohan Saikrishna Viswanandh and M Taraka Sivasatya Venkatesh.
