A petition was filed in the Telangana High Court challenging the approval by the state government for the resignation of T Venkatram Reddy as Siddipet Collector.
A team of Subender Singh and Shankar filed a lunch motion in the court over the issue.
They urged the court to cancel the approval accorded to the resignation by the state government, claiming that the state government had no power to accept an IAS official's resignation, and that the approval could be given only by the Centre.
They urged the court to also cancel the MLC nomination by the IAS official as it followed the approval of the resignation.
They appealed to the court to seek a reply on the issue from the Election Commission, the state and union governments and the Assembly Secretary.
The court refused to take up the case immediately.
Venkatrami Reddy is a conferred IAS officer, which means he was made an IAS officer by the state government.
