In a gruesome accident, a person driving a car was burnt alive as his vehicle was engulfed in flames on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Sultanpur in Ameenpur mandal this morning.
The car was proceeding from Medchal to Patancheru. It is being suspected that the car caught fire due to a technical snag that resulted from it being driven at a very high speed.
The fire consumed the car within no time giving no chance to the driver to escape. After putting out the fire, the fire and police officials found only his skeletal remains in the car.
The victim was identified as Ganta Venkata Giri, a resident of Miyapur, while the registration number of the car, TS07GM 4666 - identified after the police went through CCTV footage - showed that it belonged to one Sridevi of J P Nagar in Miyapur. The car was a Maruti Suzuki Celerio.
Police said that Giri had left home at 9 am and was on way to his office when the fire broke out and burnt him to death.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
