Campaign Against Auto Rickshaws
Hyderabad Traffic police is resuming its drive against errant auto rickshaw drivers from November 22nd.

Additional Commissioner Of Police (Traffic) CV Anand on Sunday stated that the special drive against auto rickshaws which was postponed for 40 days on the request of auto unions in the presence of RTA Commissioner will be resumed from November 22nd.
Anand stated that the drive would cover all violations committed by auto drivers including carrying extra passengers, carrying more than 6 school children, resorting to auto piloting, rash driving, bus-bay parking, wrong parking, signal jumping, wrong side driving, driving without uniform, driving without driving licence, and other issues.
The Additional Commissioner stated that the police would put a special focus on whether they had rectified the meters or indulged in tampering with the meters. He warned the auto-rickshaw drivers that decoy teams would be dispatched to check the discrepancies.
2 other offences of extra fare demand and refusal to take passengers had been looked into, as complaints were pouring in on Traffic Help Line and Traffic Control Room phone numbers on a daily basis, the ACP said.
Anand revealed that auto rickshaws would also be checked if they had put up the 20x20 information board on the back of the drivers' seats, and also the transparent plastic sheets at the rear of the vehicles.
Apart from the focus on auto rickshaws, the special drive will be continued against signal jumping, stop line violation and wrong side driving.
The police officer stated that a challan amount of Rs. 400 against signal jumping, Rs. 200 against stop line violation and Rs. 400 against wrong side driving would be levied on violators.
Blatant violators will be sent for counselling sessions twice a day to Traffic Education Park, Bal Bhavan in Public Gardens, Nampally.
