CAG Report Shows Hollowness Of TRS Government: BJP

The state government had also hatched a conspiracy to place the CAG report on the final day of the budget session, the party alleged.
Hyderabad | 30th March 2018
Lashing out at the TRS government for giving publicity that the state budget was a surplus budget when it was in reality a deficit one, BJP state president Dr K Laxman said that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report had exposed the hollowness of the TRS government's claims.

The state government had also hatched a conspiracy to place the CAG report on the final day of the budget session, he alleged. However, the BJP would take the CAG report to the people though the TRS government saw to it that it did not come up for a discussion in Legislative Assembly.

Pointing out that the TRS government had ridiculed the BJP when the latter had said that it was impossible for the government to spend all the funds it was committing to, Laxman expressed happiness that his party's stand was proved by the CAG report with detailed numbers.

The CAG report clearly showed the elaborate deception by the TRS government and the works not done by it but claimed by it as done, he said.

Laxman said that the TRS government's grand claims weren't however surprising. He pointed out that it had, for example, promised that it would construct one lakh double bedroom houses for Hyderabad's homeless poor, but had failed to construct even 1,000 though four years had passed.

Also, the state government had spent only Rs. 800 crores for the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, Mission Kakatiya works were progressing very slowly, Mission Bhagiratha was not complete though four years had elapsed, the government was least bothered about the increasing number of dropouts in government schools, deliveries had decreased in government hospitals despite the introduction of KCR Kits, and there were no appointments in universities across the state, Laxman said in his lengthy diatribe.

He also asked KCR what the situation would have been if the Centre had failed to assist the DISCOMS which were in huge losses, and what the situation of the state would have been if there was no UDAI scheme.
