In a bid to expose the previous BRS government's alleged irregularities in the construction of irrigation projects, Minister for Irrigation Uttam Kumar Reddy and Minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu will visit the Medigadda barrage of the Kaleshwaram project, where some of the pillars sank, on December 29.
The Ministers will leave for Medigadda in a helicopter from Hyderabad at 9 am, and aim to show the media how the BRS government "misappropriated a large sum of money from the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project".
In addition to this, the ministers have also decided to arrange a Powerpoint presentation over the design and quality of the project at the barrage.
After the presentation, both ministers will visit two more barrages - Annaram and Sundilla - which have been found to have similar sand erosion problems. Both barrages were constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
After that, the ministers will hold a review meeting with officials on the status of the Pranahitha-Chevella and Kaleshwaram projects, details of the new ayacut and the stabilisation of existing ayacut, and the requirement of electricity for the lift irrigation projects in Telangana - on the same day.
Reddy ordered the officials to inform the sub-contractors and all those involved in the construction of the barrages to ensure that they were present for the meeting.
