Protesting against the hike in the prices of commercial and domestic LPG cylinders, activists and leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) staged protests for the second consecutive day today at various places in Telangana.
At the Jubilee Hills Bus Station in Secunderabad, a dharna was organised by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Women and party activists took part in the dharna in large numbers, raising slogans against the union government for increasing the prices of LPG cylinders.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav lashed out at the Centre for "putting additional burden on the poor and middle class people by increasing the prices of daily commodities including LPG cylinders", and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working only for the benefit of industrialists like Ambani and Adani.
Elsewhere, a huge demonstration with empty LPG cylinders was organised in Nalgonda town. Local MLA Kancharla Bhupal Reddy led the agitation, and Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy and other elected representatives took part in the program.
Jagadish Reddy launched a veiled attack on the Prime Minister for "working against the interests of the poor people" and alleged that about Rs 19 lakh crore belonging to the nation was handed over to industrialists Ambani and Adani since the BJP government had come to power.
Various other places in the State saw similar protests by the ruling party.
