The decision of former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and former minister Jupally Krishna Rao to join the Congress is prompting other leaders to do the same.
The political heat in Telangana is going up with each passing day.
The reported decision of former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and former minister Jupally Krishna Rao to join the Congress is prompting several other leaders to look towards the grand old party.
Palamuru BRS MLC Kuchakulla Damodar Reddy is reportedly keen on joining the Congress along with his son Rajesh, and is reportedly planning to meet senior Congress leader Mallu Ravi. Nagarkurnool MLA, BRS leader Marri Janardhan Reddy, is said to be the main reason for the decision of Damodar Reddy. Damodar Reddy is reportedly angry with the BRS high command as it did not take any action against the MLA who he alleges has been acting in a vindictive manner against him and his supporters. Reddy felt that the party high command had hurt his self-respect, and also keeping in mind the political future of his son Rajesh, has reportedly decided to switch sides. According to the sources, he is thinking that it would be better if he joined the Congress along with Jupally Krishna Rao instead of holding a separate joining program.
Damodar Reddy's political career started with the Congress. He was elected as the village sarpanch of Toodukurthi. In the 2006 Zilla Parishad elections, he won as a ZPTC from Nagarkurnool. He contested for the Nagarkurnool Assembly seat five times, but lost to Nagam Janardhan Reddy. He later joined the TRS, and was sworn in twice as an MLC from the local bodies' seat in the combined Mahbubnagar district.
