BRS Allegations On Gandhi Hospital Baseless: Congress

Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah today launched a scathing attack on BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and Harish Rao, accusing them of maliciously attacking the State government and enacting dramas with baseless allegations.

Speaking to the media at the Congress Legislative Party office, Ilaiah said that KTR and Harish Rao had failed to change their behaviour despite the lesson that the public had taught their party in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

"Unable to accept the idea of the people's rule of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, BRS leaders are resorting to a malicious campaign. KTR is under the delusion that he is still a minister. What qualifications does he have to appoint a committee of BRS members to oversee Gandhi Hospital? KTR is conspiring against Gandhi Hospital, which serves the poor. He is trying to demoralize the doctors and staff there by stirring unrest in the name of forming committees, with the aim of disturbing peace and security in Telangana," he said.

Ilaiah claimed that over the past decade the previous BRS government had crippled the State's healthcare system, and that patients in government hospitals had even died due to rat bites.

He also recalled the past treatment of dalit leader T Rajaiah, saying, "When Rajaiah was Deputy Chief Minister, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and former ministers KTR and Harish Rao couldn't tolerate him and had him removed from office without reason. Moreover, the BRS did not give him a ticket for the last Assembly elections. KTR is clearly using Rajaiah now only for political gain - he has no genuine affection for the dalit leader."

Ilaiah further alleged, "KCR has built farmhouses and palaces for himself, but failed to construct a new building for Osmania Hospital over the last ten years."

Attacking Harish Rao specifically, Ilaiah said, "The BRS government also weakened Mother and Vijaya dairies for the benefit of Harish Rao as his wife established a dairy. That dairy also supplies Milchi milk to government hospitals and hostels without tenders, violating all norms and engaging in large-scale corruption."

"Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered an investigation into these milk supply allegations. If Harish Rao is found responsible for the downfall of Vijaya and Mother dairies, he will face the consequences," he added.
