BRS leader and former chairman of the Telangana SC/ST Commission Errolla Srinivas was granted conditional bail today by the Nampally III ACJM court in the case involving Banjara Hills SHO K M Raghavendra.
The magistrate directed Srinivas to submit a bond of Rs 5,000 along with two sureties and cooperate with the police investigation.
Speaking to the media outside the court, Srinivas said that justice had prevailed and accused the State government of filing false cases against him.
"I will follow the court's orders. I would like to thank our leaders KTR, Harish Rao and all party members for their support," Srinivas said.
He extended special thanks to the BRS legal team for reviewing the case and working diligently to secure his bail.
For the uninitiated, Srinivas was arrested earlier today at his residence in West Marredpally for allegedly obstructing Banjara Hills SHO K M Raghavendra in the discharge of his duties on December 4. BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, who was also arrested in connection with the case, had previously been released on bail. Srinivas had accompanied Kaushik Reddy on December 4 to file a complaint with the police station alleging Reddy's phone was being tapped. The SHO was apparently on his way to an emergency meeting, and asked the BRS leaders to register their complaint with the Admin SI, but Reddy and the others blocked him from leaving and forced him into the police station. There a heated argument ensued between the BRS leaders and the SHO in which the former reportedly used objectionable language, leading to the SHO lodging a complaint alleging the obstruction and the foul language.
