BRS Government Destroyed Civil Supplies Department: Bhatti

The Deputy CM said the previous BRS government had wrecked the department, with its arrears increasing from Rs 380 crore in 2014 to Rs 14,350 crore in 2024.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today alleged that the previous BRS government had neglected the civil supplies department completely, and that the department's arrears had increased from Rs 380 crore in 2014 to Rs 14,350 crore in 2024.

Vikramarka, who is also the State's Finance Minister, held a meeting at the Secretariat with the civil supplies department as part of the budget preparation exercise, and discussed various issues related to the department.

Later, Vikramarka, along with Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, told the media that he was shocked at the statistics presented by the officials during the meeting, and that the previous BRS government had destroyed the entire civil supplies department.

"Due to the non-payment of the bills to the department on time by the previous BRS government, all the loans together have reached Rs 58,860 crore till now," Vikramarka said.

He added that the BRS government had taken loans to buy paddy from the farmers, and had made the department debt-ridden.

"Despite the department facing financial problems, we have given orders for the continuous supply of fine rice to those students who are staying in hostels and for the purchase of paddy from the farmers. We are trying to do justice to everyone no matter how much trouble the State government is facing financially," Vikramarka said.
