BRS leader and former minister Jagadish Reddy today alleged that Telangana was witnessing the biggest land scam in the history of the country.
He claimed that ruling party leaders were handing over government lands at throwaway prices, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's relatives being the prime beneficiaries.
Reddy alleged that nearly 10,000 acres of prime government land were being readied for transfer to the Chief Minister's relatives at unusually low prices, with around 40 members of the CM's family involved.
He said that he would reveal further details soon.
Criticising the HILT-P policy, Reddy said that it was designed to deceive the people of both Hyderabad and Telangana. He also said that while the government cited high land sale receipts - such as Rs 137 crore per acre for ORR land - it was also selling industrial land in Hyderabad at a fraction of its market rate. Land valued at Rs 1.5 lakh per yard in Balanagar was being offered for just Rs 10,000 per yard, creating massive private gains at public loss, he said.
The BRS leader also alleged that the government was attempting to divert up to 20,000 acres of industrial land, and that the BRS, during its tenure, had safeguarded such lands for public use, including parks and hospitals. He demanded that the government disclose the full list of beneficiaries of the industrial estate land allocations.
Reddy declared that the BRS would not let "any of the thieves escape", and vowed that once the party regained power, all "looted lands" would be reclaimed and restored to the people.
