TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that former minister Uma Madhava Reddy and her son Sandeep Reddy would have a good future in the TRS.
Speaking after inviting the mother-son duo along with some other leaders with traditional pink shawls at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said that he was happy that Uma Madhava Reddy, Sandeep Reddy and other top leaders of the Nalgonda district were joining the TRS for the development of the state.
"I hope that they will develop the district and its segments, and the party. Politics are common, and we will win and lose at different times, but striving for development irrespective of our personal goals and agendas should be the paramount goal," he said. "Whatever problems we faced in the combined state should get resolved now."
"Nalgonda district is backward, and efforts are on to bring the IT industry to Bhongir for development," KCR added.
Speaking of the leaders themselves, KCR said, "Madhava Reddy was my close friend, and Uma Madhava Reddy is like my sister. And Sandeep is a brilliant young man. I welcome them whole-heartedly. Madhava Reddy served Nalgonda district to best of his ability. Present-day politics have leaders with lesser patience, but Uma Madhava Reddy did not put any demand before me to join the TRS. They will get good opportunities. We do not know who will get an opportunity in politics and when, but they joined the party to partner in the development of the state and the Bhongir segment, and I am sure the state will benefit from that," he said. Analysts are interpreting that as a sign that the duo cannot really expect any important positions as of now or even party tickets for the next elections.
However, he added that several leaders from Nalgonda had become ministers, and Sandeep Reddy, who was aware of politics, had a good future.
KCR asked Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy to ensure that old and new leaders in the TRS were treated alike for the party's growth.
Speaking later, Uma Madhava Reddy said that she did not talk about posts with the TRS, and exuded confidence that KCR would develop Telangana on all fronts. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, MLAs Veeresham, Kishore and Shekhar Reddy, MLCs Karne Prabhakar and Srinivas Reddy, and other leaders were present.
