Brickbats against each other by prominent actors of the Telugu film industry have become the order of the day ahead of the upcoming elections for the Movie Artists Association (MAA).
The latest incident started when veteran Telugu film actor Mohan Babu levelled allegations against those who worked as the presidents of the association in the past.
He alleged that the past presidents had sold the building of the association for a very low price after buying it for a higher price.
However, another veteran actor of the industry and the younger brother of Chiranjeevi, Naga Babu, refuted the allegations of Mohan Babu.
He said that the building was bought during his (Naga Babu's) term as the president of the association during 2006-2008. He said that they had bought the building for Rs 71.73 lakh upon suggestions of prominent members of the industry. He added that they had spent Rs 3 lakh towards interiors for the building.
The sale of the building, which happened for just Rs 30 lakh, was however during the term of Sivaji Raja and Naresh as President and General Secretary of the association, he said. He claimed that he had nothing to do with it, and that after the expiry of his term he had never interfered in the affairs of the association, and that he had always only given suggestions for the development of the association.
He advised Mohan Babu to approach Naresh about the sale of the building, and added that he would also question Naresh about the issue. He however warned Mohan Babu that he would react strongly if any kind of comments were made against him over the sale of the building.
