If the BJP were to be voted to power in Telangana it would demolish the domes of the newly-built State secretariat that reflected the culture of the Nizams, the party's Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said today.
Addressing a street corner meeting of the party at Old Boinapally under the Kukatpally Assembly constituency limits as part of the "Janam Ghosha - BJP Bharosa" program, Sanjay said the new BJP government would wipe out all kinds of structures that were symbols of the "slavery" of the Nizam regime.
"If we are voted to power, we will destroy the cultural symbols of the Nizam in Telangana, including the domes of the newly-built Secretariat. We will make suitable changes that reflect the Indian and Telangana culture," he said.
He claimed that CM K Chandrashekar Rao had converted the peoples' secretariat into a samadhi like the Taj Mahal only to appease the Owaisis.
He also announced that Pragathi Bhavan, the official bungalow of the CM, would be converted into a Praja Darbar.
Reacting to the CM's statement that the government would demolish places of worship that caused hurdles to the expansion of roads, Sanjay challenged KCR to demolish, if he could, the mosques that were built in the middle of the roads in the Old City of Hyderabad.
He also alleged that the ruling party leaders had encroached upon the lands of poor people in Kukatpally, and when the latter registered protests, they were being booked in false cases.
"The CM is confined to either his farmhouse or Pragathi Bhavan, and is least bothered about the people. The government employees haven't got their salaries even till now, and development has taken a back seat. The KCR government is neck-deep in corruption, and it is time the people teach him a fitting lesson," he said.
